The SCHMIDT’SCHE® Round-Type Transfer Line Exchanger (TLE) is a high-performance solution offering efficient heat exchange and a compact design. Featuring Double Tube registers and oval headers, it optimizes space and performance. Typically, one to fourteen Round-Type TLEs are installed per furnace, with a single gas inlet connected to multiple furnace coils.

Linear-Type TLE
The SCHMIDT’SCHE® Linear-Type Transfer Line Exchanger (TLE) is a trusted, high-performance solution with an impeccable reliability record, with over 1,800 units in operation since 1980, all without a single failure. These exchangers are closed-coupled to individual furnace radiant coil outlets, typically arranged in Double Tube register modules.
The inlet transition pieces gradually reduce the skin metal temperature from 900 °C (1,650 °F) to 320 °C (610 °F), preventing thermal stresses and ensuring trouble-free operation. The Oval Headers are connected directly to the riser and downcomer piping, with no tube sheets, minimizing the adiabatic zone for improved heat transfer efficiency.

The SCHMIDT’SCHE® Quick Quencher TLE offers an ultra-fast residence time of 10 milliseconds, making it the fastest model in our portfolio. Co-developed with Lummus Technology, this Multi-Tube Exchanger features Double Tube registers, optimized for rapid quenching.
The Quick Quencher connects up to 12 TLE tubes to a single furnace coil, cooling process gas efficiently in just one heat exchanger. The aerodynamic ceramic insert ensures uniform gas flow and reduces coke formation.

The Oval Headers create a stepped arrangement that reduces inlet channel volume and enhances gas flow patterns, optimizing performance.
This unique design minimizes adiabatic residence time, improving olefin selectivity and enabling faster gas cooling. The Bathtub TLE allows for direct connection of multiple furnace coils, eliminating the need for Y-pieces.
